๐Ÿ’ก About Luxor

Luxor, in southern Egypt on the banks of the Nile, is often described as the greatest open-air museum in the world. Built on the site of the ancient city of Thebes, the glorious capital of Egypt at the height of its imperial power, it holds the most extraordinary concentration of monumental temples and tombs on the planet.

On the east bank, the city of the living, stand two of the most awe-inspiring temple complexes ever built โ€” Karnak, a vast forest of gigantic carved columns accumulated over 2,000 years, and the elegant Luxor Temple, magnificently illuminated at night. These are among the largest religious structures in human history.

Across the Nile lies the west bank, the ancient realm of the dead, where the pharaohs were buried in secret. Here lies the legendary Valley of the Kings, where the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered intact in 1922, still filled with its golden treasures, alongside dozens of other royal tombs painted with vivid scenes.

Drifting over these wonders in a hot-air balloon at dawn is one of the world's great travel experiences. Steeped in the grandeur of ancient Egypt, Luxor is an essential pilgrimage for anyone drawn to the mysteries of the pharaohs.
