๐Ÿ’ก About Cairns

Cairns, in tropical Far North Queensland, is a relaxed and welcoming resort city that serves as the gateway to two of the greatest natural wonders on the planet. Set on the palm-fringed coast of the Coral Sea, it is the launch point for adventures to the Great Barrier Reef and the ancient Daintree Rainforest.

Just offshore lies the Great Barrier Reef, the largest living structure on Earth and the only one visible from space โ€” a vast, kaleidoscopic wonderland of coral and marine life stretching over 2,000 kilometres. From Cairns, visitors sail out to snorkel and dive among the technicolour coral, turtles and tropical fish.

Inland, the Daintree is one of the oldest continuously surviving rainforests in the world, at over 180 million years old โ€” a primeval jungle of dense green where the reef meets the rainforest in a way found almost nowhere else. Scenic railways and cable cars climb into the mountains to the pretty village of Kuranda.

With its tropical climate, laid-back atmosphere and buzzing esplanade lagoon, Cairns is all about outdoor adventure and easy living. From white-water rafting to crocodile-spotting, it is the perfect base for exploring the natural riches of tropical Australia.
