💡 About Lyon

Lyon, France's third-largest city, sits at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers and is widely regarded as the gastronomic capital of the world — the home of the traditional bouchon and the legendary chef Paul Bocuse.

With over 2,000 years of history, Lyon boasts a superbly preserved Renaissance old town threaded with secret covered passageways called traboules, once used by silk workers to move goods through the rain. Its historic districts form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lyon was the silk-weaving capital of Europe and the birthplace of cinema, where the Lumière brothers shot the first motion picture in 1895. Each December, the city glows during the Fête des Lumières, one of the great light festivals on Earth.
