💡 About Warsaw

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is a city of extraordinary resilience — some 85 percent of it was deliberately destroyed by Nazi Germany during World War II, yet its citizens painstakingly rebuilt the Old Town brick by brick from paintings and photographs.

That lovingly reconstructed Old Town, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a testament to the human will to survive, its colourful market square once again ringed by townhouses. Nearby stands the Soviet-era Palace of Culture, a controversial giant that dominates the skyline.

Today Warsaw is a dynamic, fast-growing metropolis of glass towers, leafy parks and a thriving arts and food scene. It is the birthplace of Chopin and Marie Curie, and its turbulent history is told in some of Europe's most powerful museums.
