The Best Time of Year to Visit Europe
Europe is a wonderful destination all year round, but the experience changes dramatically with the seasons. Choosing the right time can transform your trip.
Spring (April to June)
Widely considered the sweet spot. The weather warms up, gardens and countryside burst into bloom, and the summer crowds have not yet arrived. Cities like Amsterdam (tulip season) and Seville are at their finest.
Summer (July and August)
Peak season means long, sunny days and a festive atmosphere, but also the biggest crowds and highest prices. It is ideal for the coast and northern countries like Norway, where the days are endless, but southern cities can be uncomfortably hot.
Autumn and winter
Autumn (September to October) brings mild weather, harvest festivals and thinner crowds — a fantastic time to travel. Winter is quiet and cold, but magical for Christmas markets in Vienna, Strasbourg and Prague, and unbeatable for ski trips to the Alps.
